Today I’m doing a review of Video Skins

As a video editor myself I always like it when there are new launches of video products.
In this case I’m reviewing Video Skins. So what exactly is Video Skins? Well its an online environment where you can organize your videos from Youtube, Vimeo, Amazon, etc and add any kind of call to actions to your videos.
In fact, it becomes an interactive video player that is fully customizable which can be embedded on any website.

My first feelings with VideoSkins

When I entered the Video Skins members area it felt like a very user friendly environment.
Everything is nice designed and well organized. It is very well thought out and the creators have put time in it to finetune the user experience.

Another good thing is that there is a knowledge base with a wide range of tutorial videos that will guide you in everything you need to know to get started with Video Skins.

Video Skins stands out through customization

I think the best part, and the part that I realy like about Video Skins is that it is fully customizable. You can tweak literally everything you like in the video player, and with that I mean everything. Name it, and you can change it. You can change the player, the playbar, the play button, the call to action buttons, the opt-in form, the social media buttons, the timer, etc etc. Everywhere you can change the fonts, the colors the animation of the call to actions, etc. In short, customize!

Group your videos

If you are an organized person, then you will be very happy with the option to put your videos into groups. This way all videos are organized very well.

Video Statistics

Also a very nice option is the statistics part where you can track all of your videos. You can choose to see the statistics for a whole group or for an individual video.

The video editor

Here is where all the fun begins. Working with the video editor is pretty easy. All makes sense and as I said before, if you bumb into a problem you can watch a help video in the Knowledge Base area that will guide you through the whole process. It’s awesome that you can add all different kind of action buttons to your videos and link those buttons to your offers.

player editor

The thing I didn’t like about Video Skins is that it is not an exact “what you see is what you get” editor. You don’t see the actual video in the background, and I noticed that the size of the preview differs from the actual player that is embedded on your website which results that the buttons are not always in place. So you need to watch the preview video to see how everything is lined out. But hey…. the features that Video Skins has are awesome!

What does it differ from Video Overplay

Last week I wrote a review of Video Overplay which has a lot of the same options that Video Skins also offer. So what is the difference? First of all, Video Overplay is a WordPress plugin and runs on your WordPress website and Video Skins is hosted on an external website. In addition, Video Skins is much more customizable than Video Overplay. On the other hand, because it is so customizable it will take you more time to create your video with Video Skins. So if you quickly want to add videos to your website then Video Overplay works much faster. The choice is up to you. Do you want to organize your videos and fully customize them, then go for Video Skins. Or are you satisfied with the layout options of Video Overplay and do you want to add the videos quickly to your website, then go for Video Overplay.

Conclusion

Video Skins is a great. It’s organized, everything is customizable and best of all it gives you the option to take videos to a higher level through adding call to actions to your videos. If you are selling online products or your customers need to take action while they are watching your videos, then this is a product that is well worth considering.
